So are there guns out there that are chambered for 2 1/2" shells or are you guys shortening your 2 3/4" shells for a lighter load or taking off the spent reloaded petals to get longer life out of a shell?
This has been eating at me for a while. |

A lot of older American guns are chambered for 2 9/16". A lot of older European guns are chambered for 2 1/2". I have an English double chambered for 2 1/2" so I will cut down a 2 3/4" hull or order 2 1/2" hulls to re-load. A 2 1/2" hull does not necessarily mean a "lighter" load.

The Kriefhoff drilling, Geco SXS have 2 1/2 chambers
I also shoot 2 1/2 ammo in my Win Model 12s as it ejects better.
I think the Ithaca Flues had short chambers as my old 20 gauge
has real short chambers

| I have a sxs that is 2 1/2", started loading for them either cutting hulls or there are short hulls available too. My loads are exactly the same as my 2.75" loads, just roll crimp instead, not losing a thing. In fact I rarely load 2.75" hulls anymore. |
