Thanks. I had to squeeze in one more shoot before this Wednesday when I have a total knee replacement that will have me idle for a while. I hope to be able to shoot the Kansas state shoot in September or at least to be ready for bird season this fall. Smile

Byron, good luck on the knee job. I haven't met anyone who has regretted having it done, and quite the contrary. Bird hunting can be your advanced physical therapy this fall. I'm traveling to pick up another 16 Wednesday, so I'll give a good thought for you on the trip!

Thanks Dave! I found today that the score I shot stood up to win class C and I won another punch toward B class. I will hopefully be back up to par in September for the state shoot at the same location as the shoot this past weekend. I plan a lot of physical therapy in November walking the fields hunting quail and pheasants. I will rest my legs in the duck blinds on the other days.

Tom called with results today. I'd say above and beyond service for the 4th of July!

Anyway, he is sending the results, but he gave me the basic numbers over the phone.

The tested load was:

Rem. Game Load Hull
CB0078 wad
16.0 gr. International Clays
W209 primer
7/8 oz. West Coast Mag 8's

They averaged 1250 fps with a variation of 18 fps.

The pressure was 10,666 psi with a variation of 800 psi.

Tom said plenty safe for a modern shotgun and i agree. I'm going to pick a powder bushing that gets me close, but not over 16 grains. Lots of options for lowering the velocity and pressure.

Happy 4th and load away!

I loaded up 27 boxes of these today on my Sizemaster. I dropped the powder to 15.5 grains, and my 7/8 oz. bushing was throwing about 7 grains light. I've got 5 or 6 boxes to go to load up all of the RGL's I've been using, and I've got a good supply of once-fired in reserve. I should be set for a while!

I should have bought that used Grabber that was for sale a while back...

I plan to be out on the skeet field in a couple days shooting some of the loads that I have since i have two flats of the sweet load on hand and also loaded a flat of 7/8oz loads in the Fiocchi hulls. Been anxious to get back out since the knee surgery which went very well and now I am working with my physical therapist to get back up to par.
Of course idle time makes for a lot of reloading! Wink

Yes it was a lot of pulling! I have two 12 gauge Grabbers, and had a 16 gauge Grabber and foolishly sold it. Embarassed Needless to say, if you ever come across a used one please let me know.
