I realize that the subject line is at nearly opposite ends of the spectrum. However, does anyone manufacture a 2 3/4" 1oz load in #4 and/or #8 shot, preferably high brass? I can't seem to locate the 1oz Winchesters (low brass) that I used to use on woodcock, so have been shooting 7 1/2's, but prefer the pattern density I get with the 8's.

Remington makes their game loads in 7 1/2 and 8's. They also make their Remington Express in 4's and 6's. If you can't find them locally go on line to Bass Pro Shops.

The B&P F2 Classics are 1 and 1/16 but are available in European 3s to 9s and are 'high brass' speed at 1280.
The largest Federal 1 oz. Game Shoks are 6s but your local Wal-Mart should have them in 71/2s and 8s also for less than $5/box. They are 'low brass' at 1165.
I've found the Winchester Super X Game Load 1 oz 8s at K-Mart/Big K for less than $5/box also. They are also 1165.

LT,

Check out Fiocchi's Game and Target. 1 ounce of 7 1/2, 8's or 9's. I don't know of anyone making 1 ounce of # 4's. 1 ounce of # 4's is getting pretty thin for pellet density. I would again recommend the Fiocchi "Golden Pheasants" (1 1/8th Nickel Plated # 4's). Both are available from Graf and Sons (www.grafs.com).

Remington still makes the Express in 7.5's. sadly they dropped the 9's a few years ago. It was a dandy for dove and quail. any of the Express loads are plenty hot but I believe they're all 1 oz and 1/8th in 16's. but they all pack a punch and will really reach out there with the typical good 16 ga. pattern and shot string. I've replaced the Express 9 load in my program with 1 0z of 9's and 19.8 g of Unique. It's not as fast but my recent experience with W. TX doves shows that it is very effective. A good all around load for small birds and clays.
