Has anyone cut open a federal steel shotshell to see what is in it?
Just wondering about wad, is there buffer, Is there a Mylar wrap, potential powder used?
Just wondering why the get 15/16 oz but no reloads have that much. |

No buffer. Very thick heavy plastic wad much like a VP80 in design, but proprietary. |

Might give em a call and see if there is any chance they would sell them direct or consider a distributorship for them.
Why lose a dollar to other companies selling components?
Are there any other major ammo companies not selling their wads? I heard remmy still uses r-16 but doesn't sell. Most pictures I've seen suggest a version of sg-16 seems popular in factory loads. |

15/16oz #4 steel fits in a Fiocchi hull using the BPI 7/8oz load without the overshot card. 27.5gr Alliant Steel, VP80 wad
So hull room is not an issue to get to 15/16th oz. |
