Jesse168; Able Ammo (www.ableammo.com) claims to have 1 1/4 Federals in stock, if you want to go that route. They are proud of them, at around $250 a flat, but thats a better price than I have seen elsewhere for these heavy loads (35 bucks a box in some places--ouch).

As much as I love 16 gauges and wingshooting, squirrels are a rifle target for me. A good scoped .22 is medicine out to around 50-75 yards, farther than you'll consistently kill with a shotgun.

Jesse. what these fellas do NOT seem to understand is the strength and speed of a Tennessee squirrel. Why there are tales told that will curl your hair Smile

RELOAD .... think of it this way : same primer and wad (sp) , a couple grains more powder (minimal) , A quarter ounce more shot for as many or few shells as needed ! Way less expensive !

I currently have an 1970's era f/f choked F. A. Gardonese 3" chambered 16ga Italian sxs hammer gun on layaway. With the long chambers, I like the idea that I can shoot just about any modern load in it. For once. Wink Hope it shoots as good as it looks!

As long as you have a decent moose decoy, standard loads are fine.
