What is your favorite 1oz load or 7/8 with Cheddite hull.
I've been using 21.9 universal powder with Sg 16 wad 1oz 8 shot Fiocchi primer around 1250 FPS.
Wonder what everyone else likes for skeet and light birds.

1 oz lead shot
1,300 FPS 10,100 PSI

I typically don't use either of these loads for hunting, but they crush targets just fine. |

Wow that 7/8 once load has some punch.
I will have to buy some DR 16 wads and try that load with less powder.
Where did you get you pressure # from?

The loads were tested by both Tom Armbrust and Precision Reloading, with both getting very similar numbers. The numbers you see are from the Tom Armbrust test.
You can back the 7/8 oz. load down 2 full grains with no problems. |

I was looking for a 7/8 load that has a lower pressure and still has FPS.
I will have to load some with 21 grains.

I thought I would load some 7/8 oz loads with DR wads and universal powder but they seem to all sold out of DR wads with all the popular reloading sites.
Anybody know where I can order some wads?

My favorite 16 gauge target load is 7/8 oz of shot with 14 grains of 700X powder. I have loaded this with either the DR16 wad when I can get it or with the CB0100-16 wad. With the CB0100-16 wad, I use bird seed or oat meal as a filler.
This load performs well in Cheddite hulls but very poorly in Remington hulls. |
