PEPS; People for the Ethical Planting of Seeds.
Then there are "featherlite" loads.
hoashooter; I have to alter my will! Thanks for the hint. The ashes dropped into the shotload would likely tighten the patterns? Have the family out for a fun-shoot at the trap range. If it is at a legally registered range it wouldn't count as an illegal disposal of remains. |

When my father died, I had him cremated. I loaded some of his ashes in shot shells. I have a photo somewhere of me, my two brothers, my cousin and two nephews firing my father's ashes over a pheasant field in Iowa. I still carry one of the empties in my hunting vest. |

If you shoot a pheasant with a shell containing human ashes, and a little residue remains on the pellets as they hit the bird, and you eat the bird, would that then be cannibalism?
Pondering,

John,
I am not sure I will be able to go out again and not wonder if I am hunting with your dad! |

You may be hunting with him. He used to hunt pheasants with a Sweet 16. My brother has it now.
The empty cartridge in my vest is a reminder of him and the times that we hunted together.

I can see using worn-out hulls as starter pots for individual garden seeds. Just deprime and line the hull with a piece of nonwoven fabric (to make removing the seedling and its dirt easy) before adding dirt and seed.
It could work. |

Yeah my neighbors would just love me, if I tried planting the garden with my shotgun........but there is a guy that raises pigeons across the way from me and when he releases them they fly right over my place.......they are very enticing targets!!! |

Are you going after them with a birdseed load? |

I will have to rewrite my will. Use me as buffer sounds like a good way for the family to have some fun at my expense. Or to blow off some much needed steam. Anything would be better then everyone wondering who is going to get the drunkest and knock over the coffin. That my family tradition at funerals. Maybe shotguns and reloading is not such a good Idea with my folks.
Unfortunately I live in the city. So no cheating for me. |

I loaded the ashes of a firend's dog inot some 16 gauge ammo for him so he couild do a few more hunts with her.
The shells were fired using his Grand Dad's Ithaca SXS.
I took some low pressure loads that required a felt spacer, and used the same volume of Daisy's ashes to make up the difference.
I loaded nickle plated 6's and some #4 Bismuth as well, seeing how my friend hunted ducks as well as pheasants- they work fantastic!
My daughter put pictures on the boxes of daisy and Darren as well, a very nice touch if I may say s myself!
Here he is with the first shot out of the Ithaca with one of the "Daisy Dukes"
The empty is in his right hand.
