I don't think the SG16S is a lower volume wad. If I read their literature correctly the SG16 and the SG16S are the same length. Here's the info on the short wad from BP.
NEW: By popular demand we've added the Sporting Sixteen Short wad to our stocking line. This wad is dimensionally the same as the original Sporting Sixteen except for the gas seal, which is open and concave. The result of this design difference means that powder fills the gas seal and the Short wad sits about 3mm (about 1/8") lower than the original Sporting Sixteen. This makes the Short model better for bulkier powders, heavier shot charges or larger pellet sizes.
Sounds like ithe SG16S will fit better in shorter hulls.
I now have a couple thousand SG16 wads as a buffer if I run out of DRs. They make an okay 7/8 oz load in Cheds, but it looks like they will work well in Rems. I also got some of the 7/8 oz CB wads and they are still pretty big. 7/8 oz of shot does not quite come up to the top of the shot cup. Still nothing that works like a DR wad for 7/8 or 3/4 oz loads in the straight wall hulls.
Regards,
Jeff |

The only issue with Gualandi's in an RGL hull is the fit is very tight, they will work but, I can think of better wads for the RGL.
The DR16 and the CB0078-16 fit a lot better.
The CB wad doesn't work well in any other hull.....way too small in diameter. Kinda like the SP16 in a Federal or Cheddite hull, you end up having to use 800-X or another large flake powder to stop powder migration. |

Mark , is the new CB low vol (7/ of a small diameter also - haven't had my hands on one to compare with anything ... wouldn't it be a hoot , if the g-wads were of a 12ga AA diam where they could be used in 12ga loads if needed .... sorry , I get off the track sometimes |

Yup that is the Clabuster wad I am referring to.
Gualandi makes the wads in 12 gauge also. |

Don't feel bad mike. I shuttered when my cb0078 arrived in pink.
I figure atleast it's hidden in the hull.
On the same line of thought I would love to find someone making 16 ga orange or grey hulls. |

I like them purple. MIKE probably has a lifetime supply so my vote is that bright purple from now on.

Like I said earlier I found some DR wads that were part of a reloader deal.
I loaded a couple of boxes Cheddite hull,DR wad ,7/8 shot 20.9 universal powder
Does anyone have any data on this load they seemed to break clays nice.
I am going to put my order in tommarrow for 2000 DR wads.
I vote for purple wads for purple shells.
Thanks

This load was tested by Tom Armbrust, just to give you an idea.
2 3/4" Cheddite hull
Winchester209
23.0 grains Universal
DR16
7/8 oz. lead shot
1424 FPS 11,180 PSI
I would guess your velocity to be 1275 - 1325 FPS and 9,000 to 9,500 PSI |
