Have a chance to buy some older shells that have hulls that are smooth
and not the ribbed variety. The buyer thinks he purchased 10 years ago
The cases have these codes on the ends of each box
WU168
500 20892 01175 0
They are labeled "Upland Game Loads" in 16 ga. 2 3/4" - 2 1/2 Dr Eq
1 oz #8 shot
I was hopeing they were from the time frame of being compression formed
Hulls. Any info on the codes would be appreciated
Thanks

I believe they are the Win AA Compression Hulls, they sound exactly like the WAA uplands I have
The only way to be 100% is to fire one or cut it open |

Cases? Did you say cases? Actual cases of AACFs? Um, if you don't want them can I be next in line?

The code WU168 was used for Upland 16 ga with 8 shot; both the CFD and the poly shells. the CF were discontinued much more than 10 years ago, however they may have been in the back of the store for years. the boxes are different. If your boxes are white with three big Us aligned as one, those will be CF. If the boxes are white but without the big U, they may be newer production. |

Seller states they are not the ribbed hulls and are the smooth sided
hulls. I think they are 8 point crimp |

I purchased 21 boxes of these at a gun show a few years back and much to my surprise 6 boxes were cfs. So it is possible these could be cf hulls. The other 15 boxes were ched type hulls |

I've shot shells from boxes like that, they were smooth poly (non-cheddite) hulls. The newer cheddite style hulls are in silver/grey boxes. |

The 2 boxes I have from 10 years back hold true to that. The white boxes seem to be smooth sides & CF while the silver boxes are ribbed on the sides and more like the cheddite type. I can't find anything on either box describing the hull like the old Upland boxes with the 3 big U's. Here is what I have now & the crimps are different.
