Very nice Drew! Is that a rubbed oil finish on there?

Nice, Rev! How much wood did your smitty take off? He started with the standard un-capped SW grip, right?

This is a 39' (by letter) Utica gun and had an odd acute angle pistol grip (uncapped) sorta like a Perazzi trap gun-looked terrible and blocky compared to Philly Sterlys. Wish now I had taked a 'before' pic. I was thinking about doing a round knob but he (correctly) observed the flat knob would look more appropriate and he was really just making the stock look like the earlier guns. He also improved the inletting for the trigger guard and cleaned up a couple of screws-actually had to top weld then re-cut, color, and engrave the trigger plate screw.'Crisped up' the trigger pulls a bit. The pic doesn't show the Brownells 'Old English Style' pad he fit and that looks 'period appropriate.' Also fixed the safety which would occasionally reset with recoil and installed a new front sight for me. I think he felt bad for having the gun more than 3 mths and only charged $170 for all the work Shocked
We'll see how long it takes to get my 12g Sterly back now Rolling Eyes

Hmmm . . . she doesn't look large enough to me to be a Princess of Whales. Princess of Sharks, maybe . . . or, perhaps like Lady Di, Princess of Wales.Smile

Well doc, at least the man did not say princess of walruses, or princess of elephant seals. I think he's jealous. I like it. Nice looking stock job. Now about your attire for the hunt. Please forgo the charteuse tu-tu and matching ballet slippers this year. I understand that several cows dropped dead from shock last year. Laughing

Well done Rev! Does the gun "fit" you now; drop, etc? Looks good. Wink
