#5 shot for a few shells, using standard MEC bar, or dip using a adjustable
shot/powder dipper?

This is for lead shot, but may want to make shot bismuth loads.

Thanks.

For a "FEW" shells, so these must be high priority shells?
So, weigh the shot load on a scale using the dipper to start the measurement
process.

You will KNOW you have loaded these "FEW" shells to your best ability and no alibis Shocked

For shot as large as #5 you can often use a bar one size larger and get the proper drop. So, if you use a 1 1/4 oz bar you will get pretty close to 1 1/8 oz of shot.

Jeff

I have an adjustable bar on my 12 gauge MEC and really like it. It may take a little adjusting, but once you establish by weighing that your bar is dropping exactly what you want, you just start loading. No messing with dippers or scales on each shell. I find the adjustable bar to be well worth the money.

I enjoy using adjustable bars, for me it's not worth the effort readjusting the bar for just a couple/few sample/special rounds, I simply hand dip/weigh those.

I use both and usage depends upon volume. I load brass hulls for hunting and I have made powder dippers to use along with a commercial adjustable shot dipper.

For hunting loads I drop and weigh all.

This. I have adjustable bars and the fixed ones but these days weigh nearly all my shells with the exception of bulk trap loads.
