skeet,

Have some fun, I was thinking of starting a rumor that the DR-16 never truly existed and it was a mass delusion from disgruntled reloaders pining for a 7/8 oz wad.

I could then find a market for my tin hats!

I was thinking it's a product of voodoo. I was close!

Life is too short. I may not be happy about it, and choose to express my opinion, but then try real hard to leave it at that. I don't mind trying to play the class clown or fool to lighten the mood. We all on here love our gauge and the random toys we get to play with.

Voodoo you say? Nah, not the DR-16, but I have not ruled it out as a source of these photo-shopped 3 inch 16 ga shells some of our members claim to own and see! Wink

Wads are being run at present.

Thanks everyone for your concerns.

Aggravating Kevin serves no purpose.

James Kerr & Kevin are to be honored by our members of the 16 ga. Family.

Best Regards

Nick

Profit HAS NOTHING to do with the existence of the DR 16. Contrary To What ANYONE thinks.

My wad , my design , my mold I just cannot afford to run the mold due to liability so you better thank Kevin for his efforts AND STOP CALLING .

Get ahold of Stack 16 he lives in St. Louis. If he has no extra then let me know and I will ship some ahead of time , John is a hoot .

Plan us a hunt in B.C. and I will bring a case. Smiling.

Best regards. Nick

Oh no, I am looking at the bag I was supposed to ship to PoppleCop over the Xmas drawing , with my Mother going into the hospital , Cousin passing away next , then my oldest Sister passing away and all the other things going on I have forgotten until now sitting here looking at that one bag.

I will get that shipped out this week , if you folks had not been talking about wads , I still would have missed this important item forgive me Popplecop it will be shipped out this week.

Help me out guys and explain the DR 16 debacle to me, I don't know the history.
I gather Nick is the developer of the DR 16, does he own Down Range? Why all the thank you Nick? Is he doing this for free? Seems like DR 16 are the wads everybody wants and at up to $140-$150 case somebody must be making a buck especially when they can't be kept in stock. I'm all ears.

Griffon,

There is no debacle.

The 16 gauge wad is a MINOR part of production for Down Range.

He makes little or no profit in this wad if you factor in all the headaches
in supplying us fellas.

This wad takes a special plastic not normally used in the DR wad system.

Nick is a 16 gauge Champion, he boosts our gauge whenever and wherever he is able. He is a fellow shooter and hunter like us and lives in Missouri. Well not really, he is WAY BETTER than most of us Smile

This wad takes special tooling made by Nick and owned by Nick.

Without Nick there would not be a DR-16 wad, He forked over all the $s and machine time out of his own pocket to create the injection molds!!

He has loaned the tooling to Down Range.

We REALLY need to thank Nick and Down Range for even putting up with our whining.

This do justice to your ears?

Mike

Thank you, mystery of the DR 16 solved. Seems like it's a money maker for Down Range why not larger runs? Why aren't these guys buying a couple cases instead of a couple bags?

Griffon,
Read the post again
It is Not much of a money maker and detracts from other production.

Second, 5000 wads will last hunters many seasons.

I shoot 200 shells a week but many of our posters shoot way less than 200 a YEAR, so why should they buy vast quantities of wads.

Sounds like you shoot a lot from your comments? You are close to Amarillo (just a couple of days ) , come over and play ?? Very Happy

Look forward to it

I have the KEYS to the skeet/trap range!!

Mike

From all the posts here about the DR 16 I thought it was a money maker. I've been using the SG 16 and found them plentiful. Guess I've forgotten we are in the minority.
Maybe all the positive feed back and back orders on this wad will give DR a nudge to produce a larger run.

I enjoy your posts and like you try to shoot each week but if I leave here tomorrow (Sat) I might make it by Tuesday or Wednesday for that round of skeet, clays, trap.
Thanks for the info. hope they double the run.
