The Herters line of shells that Cabelas has been selling has been a boon to us 16 ga guys. New catalog now shows a pheasant line that includes a
1 1/8 load of #5's in 16 ga. Should be of interest to many of you. |

That should be a good load. My buddy and member Black Belt picked up a flat and he'll give them a workout. I already have more factory 16 gauge hunting loads than I'll shoot in my lifetime. |

generally, I shoot reloads myself in my old doubles. I have a few that I would shhoot those pheasant loads thru such as my Utica SW 16's, Ithaca NID 4E 16, and Rizzini OU 16.
Locally, my pheasant hunting is on released birds, and that kind of firepower is unnecessary, but if I were going after wild phez, I would pick up a case of these. |

Saw those on their shelves today in Omaha/LaVista. I used their 20ga Pheasant loads of 6's last year, figure they're about as good as any others of the type. In 16ga they list 1280fps. |

They are much cheaper than the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant loads |

The Fiocchi golden pheasant are hard to beat, but given the price difference, these look interesting.
I do like the Herters 1 ounce dove loads. However the hulls split at the crimp after a few re loadings. |
