I just picked up an Ithaca 37 {20ga} wearing 699452 for $200. It was the kind of thing I couldn't say no to. Overall good shape but missing the front bead. Figured someone could let me know what front bead I should be looking for for this one. Threads look to be in good shape, but this was before the orange ray ban, right?

Ask your question on shotgunworld. Ithica section.
Lots of knowledgeable people there.
Or perhaps our own drcook can answer.

Ithaca seems to sell a lot of extras and parts and stuff on their website. Have you checked there?

The orange plastic front sight on my Ithaca-SKB 280 sat on a base that looked like it might be soldered to the rib. But with some gentle counter-clockwise pressure I found that it was screwed into the rib. It was easy to remove it and replace with a standard front bead -- which I much prefer to the RayBar.

A google search on "raybar sight replacement" turns up several threads pertaining to the sights on 37s.

Ithaca 37 serial number 699452 would have been made in late 1957. The Raybar front sight was introduced in 1955. (Source: "Ithaca Featherlight Repeaters" by Walter Snyder)

As others have said. It would have a Raybar bead.

Thanks guys. I figured you guys would know. It is threaded, I can see that plain as day. No idea how/why something like that gets seperated from the gun, but at least now I know what to go looking for.

Thanks!

I like an orange bead in my peripheral vision when focusing on targets. It seems to make it easier to gauge lead for me. Reno
