I'm curious about the primer pocket resizing tool from Ballistic Products: has anyone here used this tool? Reports? Worth the money? Thanks for your thoughts!--Jason |

I use one on the rare occasions I load Rio or Fiocchi hulls -which isn't often. It works quite well but it's an added step |

I purchased one after I started noticing I had more than a few hulls that seemed to be too easy to install primers. It does work.
I have to say, it took a little more pounding pressure to re-size than I anticipated, but after you figure that out it works well. |

I use one right on a PW 375 I simply adjusted the deprime punch so that it de primes then I place the base of the sizer under the hull, run the deprimer down and give the base wad a good nudge and go from there. |

Thanks so much for the replies! I'll include one on my upcoming order. Wonder if BP has a flat rate shipping going on now??? |

In a swap I obtained 600 OLD Win 209's. They are a little undersized or simply had different geometry "back then".. regardless, they are not holding well in the reloads so I need a re-sizer. Before firing up the lathe and "reinventing the wheel"; of the different pocket re-sizing tools available BP/PR/or?? Does one stand out as better than the others?
I know; why spend $30 to save $18 worth of primers? I see the tool as needed in other instances so will be making or buying one.
Any info appreciated, thanks |

Have you tried those old primers in Remington hulls?

Have along with all others and in some hulls they fit loosely enough to fall out picking the hull off the priming station. They measure 0.238-0.239" and comparing them to newer Win 209s and other primers they are ~0.001-3" thinner but much thicker than the brick of 57's I have that are in the 0.220-0.228" range. I'm thinking either the old dims were slightly different or this is an out of spec batch.
On the red and white packaging is; HC42L69 (rubber stamped, assuming batch number) K4005P NO.209 (printed, model number?) nothing like the newer ones that simply read; W209. |

And, these old primers slide out of new unprimed Cheds I had lying around.
Swinging this thread back around to the OP, I can report my new PR resizing tool works perfectly as described. 1 sharp blow or 2 med blows from a 1/2lb machinists ball hammer re-sizes the pockets perfectly on every 16ga (RGL, Ched, Fio, Rio) hull I have. Judging from the sparks off the belt sander its from some sort of tool steel, I couldn't have made this (time & material) at $27 in hand. |
