GG - quite possible that they are morphing already ... My greenies I've been grabbing at the trap club for my old gun are one piece - long story for needing them . Need to start watching these - Fed has gone the same rt for the Estates . I'll take the paper base wads over the plastic a million to one !

Yup. Remington has never produced any one piece 16 gauge hulls. They are all polyformed. Most of us here have known this (and complained about it Laughing ) for years.

I'm betting the Remington Sport Load and Club hulls you two acquired were manufactured before 2013. I have several thousand older 12 ga. once fired Club (green one piece) and Sport Load (black one piece) hulls myself, plus a smaller stash of the same in 20 gauge. Mine were also all manufactured and acquired before 2013.

After sometime in 2012, all the freshly fired 12 and 20 gauge black Remington Sport Load hulls I've policed up at my club are the polyformed type as I've reported. We don't see any newly manufactured Remington Club hulls, since nobody at the club shoots them. Price might be a factor. I can't say, because I have not needed to purchase factory loads for quite a while. I have enough once fired hulls to reload any gauge I choose to for about as long as I'll be on the planet. After that, it won't matter. Wink

As for the newer Remington Sport Load hulls, I've reported what I've observed for obvious reasons. Folks should know what they intend to reload w/o assuming wrongly based on conflicting claims. So perhaps someone else will refer the matter directly to Remington and report back to us. In the mean time, I strongly suggest we assume nothing and all of us look twice at any of the new black Remington Sport Load hulls we acquire. Might keep us out of harm's way--well at least while we are at our loading benches. Very Happy

old hunter, I think this topic is important enough not to believe what we see from online ads. Merchants w/ old stock to sell will offer info and ad material compatible with the products they have on hand. Some don't update their online info very often either. I'm betting the ad you viewed is obsolete info.

I strongly suggest we all carefully look at any recently acquired Remington Sport Load and Club hulls for ourselves rather than assume anything. I reported what I saw when I inspected the hulls I recently picked up and not what I conveniently copied from in some online ad.

I just now emailed Remington Corp. in Madison, NC for a definitive answer. I'll post their reply if I get one. Anyone else interested enough should do the same. That would be the prudent thing to do IMO.

Well, I finally found the following post under the topic, Remington 8 hulls over at Shotgun World.com. posted by Diamond Grade on Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:49 pm:

(In 3" lengths, Lyman#5 calls the hull with the black basewad the "SP Plastic". The 3-1/2" version of the hull with the yellow basewad is called the "SP Plastic". It's sort of confusing."

The post has a photo of the hulls if anyone would care to look. I tried copying and pasting it here w/o success.

These are very similar to the 2-3/4" Remington Polyformed hulls w/ plastic base wads and 6 point crimps I've seen at my club. I've seen hulls with yellow or black plastic base wads. So I think this matter has finally been put to rest as far as it goes over here at 16ga.com.

Incidentally, the reply I got to my inquiry from one of the so called Remington corporate experts asked me to find one of the hulls and mail it to him, so he could confirm it's existance. Kinds sorta says it all about how expert the Remington Corporate Expert is about Remington products. So what else is new. Rolling Eyes
