I saw this on another forum...
I have my doubts about it truly being "Sweet", read scaled... It kinda sorta looks like a 12 ga forearm and Browning is just using the nostalgia, but that's what they are doing with the new A5 line anyway...
I'm happy to see new 16ga guns on the market, even if I have no desire to buy them.

This may be blasphemy on this site but I have never liked the hump back A-5. I wish they would chamber the Silver in 16 ga. |

My question is, is it real? |

Sign me up! I love my 12ga new model A5's. I do hope it is real; looks like a sales rep's catalog on a shop counter... |

Interesting. This will be great if it is a true 16ga frame. As noted, though, if its just a 12ga A5 with a smaller barrel, that would be pretty lame, and I'm sure just push more people away from the greatest gauge in the world. But a true frame, modern auto-loader in 16? that would be something special and I would buy one in the minute it hit the shelves. |

For what it's worth, Browning has always done a good job of putting 16's on an appropriate sized frame. The 16ga BPS is on a 20ga frame and the 16ga Citoris appear to be on either a 20ga frame or an appropriately scaled frame. I just don't see Browning doing what Remington has done with drilling a 16ga hole in a 12ga barrel. I have an email in to Browning to see if they can confirm what we have seen here... |

Even a guy like me who views the semi-auto as evil might have to get one if its on a smaller frame. |

Hate to break up the love fest. But the original Sweet 16 was build on the 12 gauge frame. That's why they have the spacer or band around the breech end of the barrel to fit the smaller 16 gauge barrel into the 12 gauge breech extension.
All that being said, calling the thing they currently produce an A5 is the biggest blasphemy of all. I own a beautiful 1961 Sweet 16. it is truly sweet. The current semi-hump back thing they are selling now might be a fine gun. It ain't no A-5 and never will be. Same goes for some 16 gauge pretender they might come up with. |

Nothing on the Browning website; photo trickery?
I'll be interested in Browning's response. |

Not sure if it's a positive note that they currently do not offer a 20 gauge model. Does that mean it makes more sense to offer it in several sub-gauge options or that 20 gauge only would be next in line.
Might suggest putting it on a 20 gauge frame would open up the options to include a 16 gauge model.
Who knows, guess we will find out sometime over the next few weeks or months. |

No they are not . You need to look a little closer. |

The currently made A-5 has a different operating system than the old A-5
which had a long recoil action wherein the barrel moved. The current version uses the short recoil action similar to the Benelli. I would expect any new introduction to adopt the short recoil action and superficially resemble the humpback of old. |

I really hope that is not a joke. This is exact what I was wishing for. I figured if they ever made a "new" a5 that it wouldn't be the same design as the old one but any new modern 16ga semi would be greatly welcomed |
