What's in a name anyway? Those of us who love the old Auto-5 will still love the old Auto-5. Truthfully, I'd be a little less excited over it if it didn't share a little of the iconic humpback form. It's going to be a cool little upland auto. |

I think that the fact that there is a possibility of a newly manufactured, properly framed, and inertia action 16ga that's going to be offered is really exciting.
Inertia actions don't really grab me but they are realiable, and generally quite well balanced. All that said, I'm still an Auto--5 man, and I personally find that from any era of production and whether standard, lightweight or magnum models, they are still second to none in the auto loader market.
Now if Franchi could just get on board with their AL-48 model in 16ga, like they should have 50 years ago, we probably wouldn't even be hoping for a different, new model 16ga auto loader.
I didn't and don't care for the current 12ga A5, but I can see where a 20ga or 16ga model would be quite a nice gun. Hopefully we will find out before next bird season. |

I will definitely buy one. Just hoping it's not a year long wait for them. |

You have to give it to Browning - they are the only one of the modern big manufacturers who even care about the 16 gauge and are willing to introduce new products in the 16. OH |

Indeed, OH. I think it's safe to say that browning has done the 16ga a great service in that it has continued to,offer 16ga guns that are made correctly for many years when most other manufacturers have fallen away or introduced inferior 16's on unscathed frames. |

Hello,
Long time lurker here, finally just joined.
What I like about the catalog page SCGunNut posted is it implies the new Sweet Sixteen will have the Invector DS chokes!
If Browning has gone to the trouble to finally upgrade the 16 gauge chokes from the original Invector style, surely they also plan on a 725 model also! |

The Zanders link also specifies INVDS. |

What are the chances of a Shot Show edition A5 Sweet with high grade wood, round knob stock, and more traditional checkering?! Browning, if you build it, we will buy |

while we're in Fantasy Island
How about a "special run" of Model 21's on the correct frame, VR, SS trigger, Invector chokes, etc. etc.
And, while we're at it how about a special run of Model 12's in 16 with all the whistles and bells. (they did that in 20 and 28ga in around '94).
Hey, who snapped their fingers to wake me up?
I so enjoyed my ever so brief visit to Fantasy Island, wave bye bye to the plane! |

If there is indeed a new version coming will it be as svelte as the old version.
Many newer guns just aren't manufactured with the fluted barrels (newer vs older wingmasters for ex.) & other wt. saving design characteristics. If & when they are on the shelf I will certainly fondle one to see how it feels.
The relaunch of the Ithaca m-37 did not compare to the old guns (IMO) after handling several. |

Now that would be tits! A round knob stock would be irresistible, and a pretty clever move by Browning. It's on their excellent Citori 16's, why not the Sweeeeeeet 16?
To paraphrase the great skeetx, "What fun! What fun!" |

Buckmark, they are already offering a "Ultimate" version of the 12 with GR111 wood and a silver colored receiver with some engraving, so I too would expect a deluxe version |
