Is there much difference in pressures from Rem 209P and the Rem STS primers?
Also are the SP and black hulls to be considered interchangeable?
Thanks! |

I formally used the Remington 209P primer in all my standard competition 12 gauge trap ammo loaded up in Remington Premier/STS hulls (same hull configuation, different shade of green) until the new STS 209 primer took its place. I was able to seamlessly make the transition w/o any problems or noticable difference in load performance. I am still using the STS 209 primers in my trap loads, and they still perform exactly the same as they did w/ the 209P primers.
So based on my experience, I'd have to say no--not much. Both are two of the mildest primers I've ever used. Both perform very consistently as long as outside temps aren't very cold. My competition trap loads perform very well spring through late fall. I use a more robust primer for my loads used for winter trap league shooting. |
