You can use the data that comes in the wad bag from precision reloading.
TUWG1816 Rem 209P, Hodg Universal Clays 17.0 grains 1186 fps 9,046 psi
Load a few of these and give it a try

Kennedy, I have never loaded 2.5" hulls, but in terms of payload, I can tell you that my A5 16ga will cycle 1oz loads on the heavy setting but I have to switch to the light setting for 7/8oz loads. Don't know if that helps but might give you some place to start regarding your question about shot charge and cycling. |

After removing the forearm and barrel, you will find the frictions rings and the recoil spring over the magazine tube. The heavy setting has the bronze friction piece towards the barrel end of the mag tube and the beveled steel ring between the spring and bronze piece with the bevel facing the friction piece. To switch to the heavy setting, remove the spring and place the steel ring next to the receiver (bevel facing receiver) and reassemble the spring with the bronze piece, followed by the barrel, forend and magazine cap. |

ok,great, thenks for the instructions on adjusting the rings, but what is the advantage of using a heavy setting for heavy loads and the light setting for light loads? why not use the light setting for all loads? or is there a recoil problem? |

Yes, recoil and abuse
Use the heaviest setting in which the gun will reliably function.

+1. I never take my A5/M11's off the heavy setting. My autos are hunting guns and I prefer to shoot the lightest load that will function my action for the occasional clays game. |
