I am in favor of maintaining the "guidelines". If it is 16ga related, I definately advertise it here and usually sell it here. I have, on occasion, listed & sold other shotgun related things and can cease to do so if the "16ga guideline" is to be the "16ga rule". |

When I see a post for a gun for sale on this site, I expect it to be a 16. Reno |

I agree that we're doing just fine right now. Now if the floodgates open we might need to clamp down harder. I had the utmost respect for Doug and I was proud to sell him a very pristine skeet-choked Sweet 16. His wishes should be honored. |

I prefer that this remain as it is with a preference toward 16ga guns and stuff. I did however by the nicest 12 ga in the nicest transaction I have ever experienced here last year. Please no cars and motorcycles. Too many other sites on them to keep me busy trying to explain to the lady of the house why another shows up with so many still under construction |

I sold a 20 Gauge Sauer on this board a few years ago, and it was a pleasant transaction. I like the idea of allowing different gauges and shotgun related items being sold, but no used cars, tractors, washing machines or other medicine bowl type goods. |

I see people are still posting here. Why? What is the purpose of these postings? Somebody just bored or did somebody actually try to sell a washing machine on this forum?

OldHunter, some folks just have to keep stirring the pot, they seems to want to create problems where there are none, and everybody was getting along fine.
Then they complain when people respond with answers they don't like.
I haven't seen any washing machines listed lately, but I am sure some one heard of some ones brother-in- law who has one for sale.
Oh, and the "more purist than you factor" has great appeal also. Be patient, this has just started, get your popcorn and get a good seat, this is just getting started.

oldhunter,
If you found my post and attempt at humor offensive, then please except my apologies. It was not my intent to offend your's or others sensibilities. |

OK guys, voting seems to have stabilized; the percentages have been stable for quite a while. The jury is in and the verdict is clear: The vast majority want the “16 Ga. Guns Wanted or For Sale” section of this forum to adhere to the existing guidelines. i.e. This section of the 16 Ga. Society forum is for 16 ga. guns.
The comments and voting have been interesting. In regard to the question of whether there should be a change, I put in the third response choice “Yes for Me, but No for Others” as a sort of joke. The two fellows who voted for that option evidently think the guidelines apply to others, but not themselves. Having watched the voting and comments closely, I’m quite sure who those two individuals are; maybe the rest of you can tell too. It takes all kinds, I guess, but I sometimes wonder why.
A couple of people thought it would be OK to deviate from the guidelines in the case of “interesting” guns. I wonder what makes a gun “interesting” enough for us to tolerate that deviation? It’s ironic the sellers find their particular gun or article, no matter how mundane, so “interesting” at the moment they want to sell it. Again, there are plenty of venues on which to sell the odd 20 gauge or whatever. And if the seller’s gun is really “interesting or unusual”, wouldn’t he get better exposure on other selling venues? The point is this: The for sale section has become a convenient dumping ground for those who think their membership or freedom to post entitles them to use it as such.
One fellow says “When I see a post for a gun for sale on this site, I expect it to be a 16.” That was the intent of the guidelines, and seems to be the sentiment of the vast majority here. If you are interested in changing the guidelines, make a case for it. Propose it and defend it. Sell it to the other 80% of us, and/or to the moderator. Until then, I think it’s clear we should adhere to the present guidelines. Thanks. |

With all due respect, I don't recall seeing your name illuminated with the color of either moderator, or administrator, on this site. Maybe you should buy the site, or petition the ownership for an administrator function before you make opinions about the operation of it? Or, start your own site, where you can make all the rules? I'll take just a moment to post the lyrics of my favorite Hank William's song, so my thoughts will be "clear".
I didn't vote, by the way. None of my business.
"Mind Your Own Business"
If the wife and I are fussin', brother that's our right
'Cause me and that sweet woman's got a license to fight
Why don't you mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
'Cause if you mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.
Oh, the woman on our party line's the nosiest thing
She picks up her receiver when she knows it's my ring
Why don't you mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
Well, if you mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.
I got a little gal that wears her hair up high,
the boys all whistle when she walks by.
why don't you mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
Well, if you mind your own business, you sure won't be minding mine.
If I want to honky tonk around 'til two or three
Now, brother that's my headache, don't you worry 'bout me.
Just mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
If you mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.
Mindin' other people's business seems to be high-toned
I got all that I can do just to mind my own
Why don't you mind your own business
(Mind your own business)
If you mind your own business, you'll stay busy all the time.
Best,
Ted |

So I guess it is your business then, to remind me of what my business is, even though it is business you say you don't care about. . . . . Truly hilarious, Ted!
As you say in your posts, "Well sir, stupidity isn't technically against the law, and on that note, I'll remove the handcuffs and you are free to go".
Of course, with all due respect, you know.
All the Best to you too, Ted. |

Pleasant for you and the buyer. Little did you know how troubling this could be to folks who are troubled by troubling things.
