I just got a W-21 Trap Grade Skeet gun in 16 Ga. What new shells should I buy and what reloading recipe should I use? I will mostly shoot #9s at 7/8 or 1 Oz. I reload a lot of 28 Ga with 20/28 powder and couldn't find a recipe for that powder. Thanx, Billy |

Welcome
There is lots of knowledge on this site
There are not any real good hulls being made in 16 ga these days
One of the better in my view is Herters hulls and the factory loadings are very reasonable.
I use mostly Unique in my 16 ga reloading. |

Ballistic Products (BPI) has a good selection of 16 ga wads to use in Herter's and other Cheddite made hulls. You can even get new primed hulls from BPI. |

ballisticproducts.com from homepage click Load of the week, click archives to 04/08/2013 Early season 16ga. Pheasant loads. Alliant 20/28 multiple recipes. All Cheddite hull recipes which will be safe with Herter's hulls. If you search archives further I know that there are some loads 1oz.-20/28-Z16 wad. Enjoy. Dare I advance an opinion? If you are familiar with Alliant Unique and 20/28 recipes there is a similarity relative to powder WEIGHT and payload. No recommendation intended but testing some possible 20/28 loads could be attempted. I intend to pursue that commonality further. If fruitful I will share tested, proofed load information. There does seem to be a strong interest in 20/28 usage in 16ga. |
