I use universal for 16 ga and .40 s&w, just bought a jug of the new stuff, does it reload just like the old? It looks different, it has dark brown pieces in it, instead of all tan like the old. |

As the CO doesn't mention changes , all I'd do is weigh a couple throws to verify the density is about the same . Would still use the recommended weight. |

so as long as the weight is the same its ok to use the same loads? I may need to change the charge bushing to get the same weight, correct? |

Every lot / batch / jug of powder is of itself - I believe most of us check the weight/ density just to be sure ... if it's only off a couple tenths of a grain , have at it . Reloading is an inexact/exact science . Cases can vary , primers can vary , if you change shot , that weight will vary . It's almost impossible to exactly match data exactly . You are looking for being in the ballpark and if you have a load you like , stay as close to it as you can . consistency !! |

16gaDavis, gave you good advise , but if it is that much different , you might want to call Hodgdons and ask them just to be safe |

just heard back from hogdon, they know about the density problem and are trying to fix it, in the meantime, we need to check weight with every new jug |

So I am a little confused did Hogdon say that as long as the weight is correct the volume of the powder charge maybe a little different but it is safe to use? That seems to be a significant error on their part.
