Cabelas sent me their new catalog "Shooting Sports" which had a 2 page ad about Browning's new line of ammo. I didn't find a release date to retailers, but it must be close. Has anyone seen any of their stuff out there?

.22s and 12ga target shells so far, they're made by Winchester and a clays shooter in Pennsylvania told me his 12s are AA cases. No word yet about their 16s and the guys at PheasantFest were saddled with catalogs that didn't even list 16s. I'd assume they're going to be a version of the straight wall Cheddite shells they've sold in the past.

Ahlmans had the 12 ga version last month but I didn't open a box . Do remember being surprised at the lowish price of like 7.99

Wouldn't it be a bad joke if they don't manufacture 16 ga. since they make so many different shotguns chambered in 16 and coming out in late Sept. with a semi-auto in 16. Embarassed Laughing

If Winchester doesn't make it, I doubt you'll see it.

16s have the Cheddite stars in the headstamp while the 12s have a Buckmark and apparent AA construction. I saw some of the 16ga hunting loads of 6s but no target loads yet. Didn't think to check the box for indication that the shot is plated, and didn't ask about prices, am waiting to see if target 16s show up. Boxes do say "made in Australia" so they are apparently the old Australian Winchester rounds.

Ordered a case of 1 oz #8 shot. Backordered. 2-3 weeks estimated delivery. Just have to wait and see.

How much is the 16ga ammo?

It would be great if they are the same hulls as the Winchester with a better price.

I am reloading 50 Winchester 16ga. hulls I picked up at the range that are on their 5th reload and do not have a crack, split or pinhole in any of them. The hull is exactly the same thickness as the Herter's hulls but is evidently a much higher grade of plastic. But I am not going to pay $10.50 per box plus shipping to get these hulls, which is the best price I can find anywhere for the Winchester Game Loads.

I am sorry this is not 16 ga info, but here is a heads up about Browning's .22 long rifle ammo. The brass measures 0.2250+ inches in diameter. Remington, federal and CCI all measure 0.2235-0.2240. I shot one round through my A-bolt and the brass was severely jammed in the chamber and would not extract. I needed to use a cleaning rod which unfortunately jammed into the brass. The rod and brass were stuck together, and after hacksawing the rod from the brass everything was cleared. The browning rounds were fine through the winchester 94-22 which must have more chamber tolerance.

Browning ammo does not work in the Browning gun. Priceless. This reminds me of Mossberg developing the 3 1/2" 12 ga. in conjunction with Federal. The ejection port and ejector post combination in many production guns didn't allow enough clearance for the spent Federal hulls to eject! The shorter Winchester hulls cleared fine. More brilliant engineering on display.

A quick internet search suggest the price of the Browning ammo will be pretty much the same as the price for Winchester ammo.

Not all bad though, we get another color to use for reloading.

I saw some of the Browning 16ga ammo at an Atwoods store the other day and the price was not marked but the identical 12 ga stuff was 19.99 per box. The hulls of the 16's were black like the RGL hulls and not impressive.

About $13.00 a box is the best price I can find on 1 oz stuff. I found the Winchester comparable product to run around $10.00 a box.

With Herters at $5.50, Fiocchi at $8.50, Rio at $8.00, Federal at $8.50, and Remington at $7.50 it does make it a bit hard to see how they will have a strong market presence.
