Well, since Universal Clays is hard to get and the recommended loads from Hogdon seem to have a bit of recoil - I bought some International Clays thinking it would be similar to my Green Dot loads in the past (which I can't find any more) and so I loaded about 10 to test - it seemed to throw a pretty tight pattern and recoil was mild so I loaded another 100 to shoot skeet with to see how well it performs on flying targets.
My problem is in the Cheddite/Fiocchi hulls the crimp is really deep - but in my Remington Black hulls perfect (so I will get a case of Remington Game loads to shoot up for the hulls) and was wondering how you prevent the deep crimps other than sealing it with a little wax - to keep from losing shot?
My load is Winchester 209 primers. 12.5 grs of International Clays, BP Sporting 16 wad and 1 oz of shot. Using Remington Hulls |

I may be mistaken. But I believe the rgl are a shorter hull. May be just need to adjust the press. |

Give some serious thought to using DR16 wads or else put a cheerio on top of the shot before crimping. |

12.5 grains are a small load by volume, if you were using universal you would be around 19 grains, which is why you need a spacer(cheerio) |

Try 2 1/2 inch hull with DR 16 wad load 3/4 oz. shot 16 grains of International Clays. You might really like this for Skeet. |

use a CBAA16 with a 1/2 " 24 or 28 ga fiber wad in the cup. I do this and the patterns on clay targets are smokers. Arthrites forces me to rest every 2 to 3 hrs so I sit down and put fiber wads in to the wads ,I do 250 to 300 in 30 min. or if you watch teleaversion do it then. |

Cheerios are worthless spacers for me, I keep eating them all. Maybe I should get the nasty off brand ones instead. |

WYO - get the off brand like ShurFine - lots more in a box for less , so you can eat them and still have plenty to reload ... We tease the crap about these things , but , they do work !! |

I've used puffed rice in the past; just stuff it in on the pre-crimp station. I once tried Kix cereal, but I didn't like the recoil.

I have been loading up 7/8oz loads with the Claybuster wads in R-P hulls and a pinto bean in the base for a filler. Works great and i don't have the urge to munch on the raw beans! |

Cut the hulls down to 2 1/2 and no filler is needed. But I guess some presses are too hard to convert. |

I have been watching this post. To answer OP's questions cutting to 2 1/2" with the current wad used to accommodate powder volume. See Hodgdon data. The Downrange DR16 would solve the problem with current hull. |

That seems like a very light load . Where did you get the data for that load ? With the right amount of powder in a straight walled hull and the sg16wad 1oz it should crimp just fine , no filer needed .

look at the load at the top , crimps where good , about .060 . |
