Have an oppertunity to buy an as new 16 ga model 24. It's in a true 16 frame 28" bls f/m, dt. Haven't shot it but it fits very well & swings well. I know they were inexpensive to buy new and I have heard some refer to them as the poor mans 21. I know they are not in the same class as a Model 21 but I'd like to know if $350 Canadian is an ok price and if they have any inherent problems? Thanks in advance.

Price sounds good for a like new. I've seen good ones in 16ga go for 500-700 $US on gunbroker. Besides from being heavy, they are decent guns. Some develope a tendency for the extractor to bypass the spent shell flange, leaving the shell in the chamber. This is mostly due to the amount of contact the shell extractor has with the Shell lip. I think the smaller gauges are worse for this.
I say go for it...

I would jump on it. I had a chance to buy a 16ga Model 24 right a few years ago. I didn't, and I've always regretted it. Like 16'er said, I usually see them at much higher prices, especially in the smaller gauges; anything with the big "W" on it is usually pricey. I'd be surprised if it's only 6 lbs; I'd think that would be pretty light even for a 20ga, but maybe. Some folks don't care for the look of them; I think they're just odd enough to be pretty cool. I've heard them called "poor man's round action "  !

I'd be all over that. I've had a couple of 24's and they are great shooting guns. The 16 is not nearly as clunky as the 12 ga model.
