Shot some loads over my new Caldwell G2 chronograph today .
It's inverted ( upside down ) suppose to work better in bright light conditions also the sunscreens have self-contained LED lights for when lighting is not so good.
On pretty cool feature, it pairs via Bluetooth to my iPhone and the phone records all the data.

Right on with Tom's results, nice! I backed that load down to 15.5 grs. for my big run the other day.
How far from the first screen is the muzzle? |

Mark, my Chrony instructions say 5', but tomorrow I'm going to try it at 3' and see how it goes. |

I found that I was getting muzzle blast at three feet, and my chrony started working as it should when I put it at 4' from the muzzle. |

Dave , I put about 160 rounds over it at a measured 3' and never got an error message and all my rounds where close to what I expected them to be . Except some Factory Win Super X Upland Game loads 1oz which clocked at ave for 10 shots 1295 fps sd13 , The box says 1165 fps .
Tom Armburst told me he test with his start screen at 3' |

At three feet I got crazy inaccurate readings, and thought the chrony was defective. I moved it out to four feet, to try again before returning it, and everything started to work as it should. I use a ProChrono. |

[quote="fn16ga"]Lengthy but interesting read on chronographing Study 1&2

Very comprehensive article! I liked how it challenged some of my preconceived notions. He felt it really takes 20 shots to get the full picture on a load, and exact weighing of powder to the tenth of a grain really didn't help consistency. Oh boy! |

I wonder if there are updates to his conclusions in the last 15 years? |
