I'm going to my Dad's today and am going to scrounge through his ammo cabinet for some of the old 16ga stuff he's had forever.
Does anyone have photos of what you've collected over the years?
Old ammo?
Old Shell boxes? |

Sorry, no photos. i just decided this year to shoot up all the antique ammo I'd got at gun shows, etc. It was kinda neat stuff, but I decided it was just cluttering up my ammo drawers. So far, no misfires and some nice game taken, using a great variety of shells from all over the world, some of it over 50 years old. I just had too much clutter. There were shells from Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, France, Canada, and USA, 67 and 70 MM, paper and plastic, roll crimped and fold, from size 11 to BB. I was amazed at how little apparent difference it makes to have varying shot sizes, fiber wads vs. plastic, etc. If you point the gun right, it seemed to work. |

I have several full boxes of 16ga upland loads, probably late '70's vintage. Nothing special, just Win/ Rem/ Fed stuff. I just bought a new 16ga Superlight and was going to shoot it up soon. Is there any reason to save this stuff? I see people EBAYing old empty shell boxes, but always suspected they were secretly selling the live ammo with them. Some seem to sell for $5-10. Is that true? Should I save these? |

Mike: like alot of fellas, I went through an 'anything and everything' phase then for awhile focused on classic American SBTs (2 Flues and 3 Knick Ithacas, 2 Parkers, an Ithaca Lefever, and a Baker) All that is gone now except for some nice Peters Victor stuff. Not very exotic nor particularly collectible but fun.
And I seem to count 9 guns in that pic, all with stunning wood! |

I keep my shooting junk in a broken tomato crate under the cellar stairs, but I'm sure as hell not gonna post any pictures. |

This old full box of Nitro Express 2 9/16" roll crimp loads is one of my favorites probably because of the unique shot size and I was just a kid when you might still see one even in old stock!
