Bought an 1148 26" I.C. Shot it & pulls shells half way out but doesn't eject'em well. 2 of 3 didn't eject. Took a look inside & the bolt has 40-50 yrs worth of grime & scum o it. First step is to break it down & clean it up then try it again. Hopefully not a worn ejector issue. In progress:

apparently was what the remmy needed.
Tried three rounds in quick succession & it ejected all three as fast as I could fire it.
Now to install the sling. |

put back together & sling hung on it. It ain't real purty but it'll do for a Phez / trunk gun for Phez & ITS A 16! Only 16 I have out here suffering in MT.

I had three chukars put out for my pup yesterday and used my 48 with the 26" IC barrel. With that barrel in place it makes for a FAST gun. The last chukar flushed low and weak barely staying ahead of my chasing pup. By the time it cleared safe enough to shoot it was 35 yards out and I was wishing for my 28" barrel with the tight-mod choke. I flailed at it 3 times and it kept going. Oh well, it was mission accomplished with my pup, and the first and last pen raised birds he'll see. Me thinks the 26" IC on my 48 will make a good ruffed grouse getter. |
