I have an opportunity to purchase a Citori Grade VI 16ga. 28" barrels, coin finish receiver with gold bird engravings. Gun was from a collection and looks like it was never shot. Supposedly a 2003 gun but I will have to verify. It however doesn't come with the original box or extra chokes. What kind of value would you put on this? |

I bought two GR VII a few years back. Believe I paid $3500 each for them. They were 410 and 28 ga.
I am thinking that a GR VI in 16 ga in like new condition would be worth $2800-3000. See what others say, maybe my memory is shot. |

You can get this one for $2500 and shipping
Has some use
So 2800-3000 is reasonable for as new gun I would think?????

I paid $3500 for mine several years ago . I wouldn't sell it for less . They are getting rare, showing up less and less . |

I'm curious how not having the box and paperwork, chokes, etc. effect the value. |

I would think the value would definitely be less. I know when I purchase a gun the box and paperwork are very important to me. I'm not a collector I'm a shooter but I still like having the box to my guns. But it's a very good question unfortunately I can't answer for sure but I would think a few hundred bucks. |

When it comes to the Grade VI Citori models, appearance is everything. Some I've seen are certainly handsome guns w/ lovely figured wood (though some of them have less well figured wood which could be better IMO). Most of the ones I've seen for sale are obviously safe queens and show little to no use. There's a good reason why.
Now I certainly don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but a word of caution here if anyone is planning to use one as a field gun. The gold plating applied to the raised figures and engraving is a thin layer over copper plating. Gold is soft. It can and will wear through if the gun is subjected to a lot of use. The copper plating underneath will tarnish to a noticeably darker shade and can turn green if it's not cleaned. Once that happens, your investment goes south in a hurry. So it might be wise to look for a well used one at a very good price if you intend to shoot it a lot.
I'm posting this info for anyone's benefit. So please be advised and buy w/ full knowledge of what you are paying for. Then by all means enjoy your gun for whatever reason you bought it for as you see fit.
FYI, I've also seen some very handsome Grade III Citori models w/ exceptional wood every bit as good as the wood found on many Grade VI models. Since Grade III models do not have gold plating, they make better all round shooters in my experience. Something to think about for those who'd like a higher grade gun for field use which could hold on to it's value better as well. |

Looking at this one tomorrow or Saturday. Don't think it has the box and paperwork. They are asking $3099

It's worth exactly what you are willing to pay for it and not one penny more. |

I am a wood whore, and that's some real nice wood.
Basis the wood, I think $3000 is a fair price.
Let us know what he took for it |

The wood was actually nicer in person. I''m sure it's never been shot. I gave $2950. Was going to offer $2800 but after seeing it I was happy to offer $2950. |
