Here's one!

It says unfired, but that looks like an aftermarket pad. 1620s are wonderful guns.

Yeah, I've been watching it since this AM. I'm not sure whether I can swing this now. I was not planning to buy something today, just starting to figure out what I wanted to do. I would have to sell a long gun or two in order to make this work.

I'm trying to confirm whether they are still making the 1620. There isn't any of them listed on the Merkel website and I've seen discussions on this site about them no longer in production. The one high end gun shop I called thinks that they are still making them, but will confirm with Merkel USA.

Merkel are not making the 1620 anymore. There are enough around that you can find one at a reasonable price.

I shoot all my Citori Superlight and Lightning models with my forward hand at about the same distance as my grip hand is to the hinge pin (which seems to be the balance point on my guns give or take an inch or so). This gives my guns a very between the hands feel w/o any very noticible forward balance. You may try simply finding the balance point on your present gun and shifting your fore end hand a bit further forward if you need to before modifying the gun's balance. Easily worth a try IMO.

Hmmm, you might be on to something here. Actually, it may be that I'm just fixated on it after someone else commented on it when checking out my upland special. I never notice an issue when shooting in the field, just when handling and practice mounting now and then.

What does the aftermarket recoil pad do to the value? It looks like it was professionally installed, so maybe that doesn't hurt much, but I wouldn't know for sure. The last thing I want to do is overpay, even if I plan to keep it forever.

If you need to sell off a couple guns to facilitate buying your next, I know a good home for your Citori 16ga Upland Special. Very Happy
