I have a supply of 2-1/2 inch primed Cheddite and also once fired RST cases that I would like to load at 1 ounce. There is not much in the recipes on the 16 gauge reloaders group for 1 ounce.
Does anyone know of loads or a source for the 1 ounce load. I use primarily SG 16 wads although I have some WAA 16. I would like to use powder that I have...SR 7625 and International Clays.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I would prefer to fold crimp on my reloader...a MEC. The Cheddite hulls are new, the RST's once fired.
Here in Alaska, 2-1/2 inch loads are more trouble than they are worth. |

check Dave Erickson's recent posts ... can't go wrong with 18-19 grns unique and your wads . Was my original go to back before I even knew this group existed . Put a nickle under your wad feeder and starter and one under your final crimp . add a washer on top if you need it for the final crimp - easey - peasey !! |

I use a Mec 600 jr loader. I build up the crimping stations with 2-3 pennies. That makes a nice crimp easy. |

Mike,
Here is my preferred 16ga 1 oz load for 2 1/2" Cheddite cases which was tested by T. Armbrust. I have found it to be a very consistent all-purpose 2 1/2" load. It cycles very reliably in my old 65mm A-5 and patterns extremely well in my 2 3/4" guns. It is a very robust load for the recoil-conscious however.
This load basically sold me on the value and utility of 2 1/2" 16ga guns and Cheddite hulls.
When reloading with 800X powder, the powder measure or bushing must be carefully calibrated to the precise weight of the powder. The published tables for 800X bushings are often skewed.
Ga: 16
Hull: 2 1/2" Cheddite
Primer: Cheddite 209
Powder: 20.5 gr 800X
Wad: SG-16
Shot: 1 oz lead
Crimp: 6 Fold
PSI: 9520
Vel: 1236 fps |
