Merkel 200E 16 gauge
Here is a fine Merkel 200E built in 1955. It has the “Q1” stamp. No cracks, dents, everything fits and works perfectly. I had one hairline crack on the stock head professional repaired by Lance Wells. I’ve owned a number of Merkel shotguns and this is the best built and fitted example I’ve owned. It’s something you can feel and observe when it’s in your hands. It’s a sweet handling high quality OU.
For those of you who are wondering, “If it’s so great why are you selling it?” Last summer I bought this shotgun and a similar light 12 gauge Merkel 200E from a member with the thought I’d try both and keep one of them. I had such a great start with the 12 and then moved to a heavier 12 for my out of state trips that I only carried this 16 twice in the field. I took an early ruffed grouse with it, and had one long poke at a pheasant the other day. I really didn’t give it a fair chance, but the 12 gauge 200E has worked so well for me I’ve decided to pass this one on.
I paid $2000 cash for this 200E and I’m asking the same. I’ll cover the shipping and insurance.

WOW!! I was just about to point the site to my wife as she asked me today about a Christmas present, but I see that I am too late. |

Thanks, A.M. - the new owner is VERY satisfied! The gun is sweet, exactly as Dave advertised it. Light, fast-handling, hard hitting - me and this baby are going to have fun on the Sporting Clays field!
Dave is a pleasure to do business with, I'd recommend him to anyone. |

Glad you like it, Bill! Seems whenever you sell a gun you hold your breath a little and hope the buyer sees what you are seeing in the gun. I was fortunate to come upon two nice Merkel OU's and although I got off to a great start with the 12 gauge I kept, I know the one you got is in better shape and built like a Swiss watch with a couple refinements like the top lever release and articulated trigger my 12 lacks. That's a nice one.
Anyway, to anyone reading this, Bill (Roadkill) was refreshingly prompt and professional throughout the sale process. It also makes me feel good that the gun is going to someone who truly appreciates Merkel shotguns. Thanks, Bill! |
