I'm selling an AH Fox Sterlingworth 16 bore with 2-3/4 chambers and 28" barrels. I have an ad on Gunbroker.com right now, but if someone here wants it for a decent price, I will shut down the gunbroker sale.

Here is the link to the Gunbroker.com sale: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/604154482

I'm sure that many of you know a lot more about this gun than I do. I bought it used at an auction. Its a nice little field gun, but I just cant deal with the double triggers. There are a few small "character marks" and some restoration that may have hurt the collector value to a degree. I'm not knowledgeable about grading guns though. If you have questions or comments, please feel free to reply to this post. Send me a PM if interested in buying or trading.

If a trade is something you are interested in, even something I'd have to throw in some additional cash, please shoot me a PM. I'd consider any SxS or O/U with a single trigger and strong preference for straight stock. It doesn't have to be 16 gauge, but that and 28 gauge would be my first choices. Don't be shy with offers, the worst I can say is no...

Danny,

What is the restoration that you refer to in regards to the gun? It looks as though the case colors may have been redone but it's a bit difficult to tell from the pics what, if anything, was done to the gun. Thanks.

Marcus

As I said, I bought it at an auction and I don't know the history. The case hardening does look like it may have been redone. It looks like they did a good job on it, but I don't know who or when it was done. Someone else (through hands on inspection) thought that the wood finish on the forearm and the butt stock indicate refinishing or a replacement of one of them. I don't see this myself, but maybe I'm just not savvy enough to detect.

The bores look shiny and bright. If there is a way to include photos here, let me know and I'll attach them. There is no indication of the dings on the outside of the barrel coming through to the inside of the barrel. I have a very simple choke gauge and the full choke does not fit, so I guess it is full choke (both barrels). I'm not professionally trained to measure the stock dimensions, but the butt plate is 13 1/4" to the rear trigger and 14 1/8 to the front trigger. The "drop of comb is 1 5/8" and the drop at heel is 3". I won't even try to measure cast, but it doesn't obviously have any cast either way. The weight is 5 lb 15 oz.

I am very interested as it reminds me of the 16 ga my Dad had before he went into the Navy in 41 and when he came back my Grandfather had sold all his guns (thinking he wasn't coming back) PM sent. Eric

It looks as though you were able to make a deal for the gun Danny. If it should happen to fall through, please keep me in mind. I'm not far from you so we could do a face-to-face transaction. Best of luck with the sale.

I'd like to thank everyone who expressed interest in the Sterlingworth, but I have a buyer, and we will work through the details in the coming days. If something falls through, I'll let everyone know.
