In Wisconsin we are getting more snow than I asked for and temperatures in the single digits. Well, that drove me to the basement where I pulled out Browning Sweet Sixteens, various original catalogs and loaded several boxes of shells. Guns all tucked away, catalogs on nightstand for late night reading. All 16ga shells inventoried and organized. Wife making several sheets of chocolate chip cookies, fresh coffee brewing. Life is suddenly better. :lol:

I have been doing the same---Not much snow but VERY low temps and windy.Now is the perfect time to catch up on loading.

Wow. An original Belgium Sweet in near perfect condition with a raised rib barrel that smells strongly of chocolate. Now thats happiness...I had a great photo but will need to investigate how to attach tomorrow.

also did some reloading- 2 1/2 inch for my A-5, then took the marlin 90 out and shot some pasture trap, 29 degrees, but we both needed to get out of house. should have taken some chocolate with me.

It is colder than the north pole here in lower michigan too....got the time off now, but too cold to hunt.
Oh well, if we get the 7" predicted, I'll have the perfect opportunity to get the Gravely out of the garage and put it to work.

Well it was 77 here yesterday. Too hot to take the dogs out after quail.

But Mondays' high should be 50. Perfect temps to hunt the desert quail.

Incidentally, I pull out the gun herd twice a year to fondle, grease and oil. Majority are Auto 5's, most Sweet Sixteens but there are also a beautiful Light Twenty and Twenty Magnum in residence. I cannot stress how much I favor the quality, fit, finish and hand engraving. I look forward to shooting a new Sweet 16, but this is one hombre who will never transition. I just can't. My guns have SOUL!! Besides, I love that shuffle.

Today is opening day of duck season second split. Hunted White Lake, LA - 80 degrees, 25mph south wind, overcast. Got one smiley mallard and 2 bluewings. I was feeling bad until I read this post! Might go for a swim in the pool.

Its been deep sub zero here. Reloading this evening and saying heck with it and going chukar hunting tomorrow anyway. Fogged glasses here I come. I refuse to stay down! Besides, Mr. Rusty is getting bored and in a couple months there will be no more opportunities for him to get his lips around a bird. I owe it to him. Wink

-23 this morning at 8am....got all the way up to -6 today. When it hits 30 on Tuesday, its gonna feel balmy!!

my daughter gave my 13 yr grandson a ruger mark III for christmas, so we just had to take it out and try it, good shooter, even 9 yr granddaughter got a few rounds off. Then shot some pasture trap, grandson has been having some trouble with his 16ga o/u, but I fixed it and he was blasting targets, so that worked out. granddaughter likes to operate the trap thrower. Then the storms came it and we got packed up just as the skys opened up bad. so turned out to be a great day.

I've found jamming my big toe in a light socket works... at least for a few seconds. Then I tend to lapse back into my mid-winter semi-coma. Laughing

I also find I hate the cold more and more as my age goes up. I wish I could hibernate like a bear, so I can avoid having to get up out of a nice warm bed to turn the damned heat up every morning. And yes, I do get back under the covers until it hits about 70 in the house... which is usually sometime around noon.

So please pardon me while I lapse back into my semi-coma. It's the closest thing I can get to hibernating. Laughing

Been cold here in Vermont too -13 day before yesterday. Yesterday took Cooper out to hunt some pheasants. Only game in town is a preserve but the one we go to is good. Cooper did well I shot 9 wasn't paying attention to him on point for another. Fell on my ass twice ice was bad. It was a good morning and he had fun . Wife wont shoot anything but loves watching the dog, she also came in handy I kept stuffing the birds in her game bag!

I don't Hibernate I fly south from Victoria to Phoenix.
Great to be a snowbird.
