After years of a steady presence on Gunbroker and the other shotgun sale sites I don't see any Browning Citori 16's for sale anywhere. Makes me wonder if another run is forthcoming, or if now that Browning has the DS chokes in production for the new SW16 they will bring out the Citori 725 in the 16 gauge.

Probably just an anomaly. Some will show up soon. They just had a run of Citori field guns this year, so we're probably not due for another 2 or 3 years. I have emailed Browning with my wishes for break open 16 gauge guns. Hope it helps. What I do see is that when the available guns are all used the price climbs until the clean ones are around $2k for a field gun. This year when the new Lightnings came out the price of used guns collapsed down to about $1200 or less for several months as new guns were $1600 and up. The sporters, which have only come out once or twice, are always a bit more expensive.
Looks like now is a great time to sell a used Citori for good money. Did anyone ever find out what kind of "crazy" money the Sporter went for recently?
Regards,
Jeff

I'll hold off on a Browning, I have Dave's Merkel! Shot sporting with her today, broke 73 in 30deg temps and wearing a coat. What a sweetheart!

While we're thinking of future possible options...

Higher grade superlight feather would be nice, with grade III/IV oil finish wood. A bit of engraving such as woodcock on one side and pointer or grouse on the opposite??? Maybe a throwback JMB type buttplate. I'll take mine with 26" barrels.

Another idea would to do a run anong the game bird line they did a few years back, but this time feature specific breeds of gundogs.

It's worth dreaming out load since it looks like the dream of a 16ga 48AL was answered roughly in the form of the new Sweet A5 so my dream is a Citori Upland Special w/DT's and as simple and plain as can be....Dream on, dream on, dream on, Dream until your dreams come true.... Very Happy

I have one in Heritage model, 16/28" (don't think there are many of these around)
It is a beauty
I do watch GB pretty close and have noticed an absence of 16 ga Citoris of late.
I really don't need a second one, but if I could tell them what I want it would be a Lightning feather, 28", with high grade wood and an oil finish on the wood.

Hello All,
First post here, a 16 enthusiast from Bozeman MT.
Anyone looking for 16 Citori's might check Shedhorn.com, a nice little shop in Ennis, MT. They have a couple 16's in stock. I have no affiliation, just have had good experiences with buying guns from them.
Mine are a Citori Superlight and a CZ Bobwhite, in fact one of 'em is going after huns with my little Grif girl tomorrow.

Very Happy

mtbirder,

Welcome to your first post. You'll find most folks here to be very helpful and most of them pretty polite too!

Best wishes afield with your 16s.

Lon
