I find bird dogs just prettier than other dogs. This guy, sach, is not just pretty but has a hell of a nose on him. Found a quail that had previously been shot and killed at least 16 hours prior. Was impressive watching him work with his nose high and low. Good puppy at just over a year (i think the guide told me). Wish he was mine!!!

Might be sacrilegious on here, but if it weren't for my beautiful Griffon girl's (and our public land heritage) I'd have no use for my 16 gauges.

I completely agree. It's all about the dog work that keeps me in the field!

If it were not for bird dogs I wouldn't hunt or need a 16.

I live what you said above. I lost my PP in '09 for various reasons haven't got another dog. Been hunting Elk and Deer (in MT of course) to fill the freezer with healthy meat.

While I've shot some skeet - I see no joy in bird hunting w/o a dog.

Our PP Pup is due to be born in 2 days!

Yipee! Very Happy

I won't miss hauling elk several miles out of the woods Confused (though I will still probably do it anyway) but, bird hunting is #1 priority - with a dog, of course! watch out Huns, Sharpies, and Roosters - I got some makin' up to do!

I've got a line on a drahthaar pup. If all works out, by the time the end of Febuary rolls around, I'll have a pup! Right now I just shoot for guys training thier dogs.

I love watching all the dogs at the club work. Of course I have some favorites, but I don't let many of the guys know that. Some outstanding griffs and Brits. Even a few top notch Gordon's and Vizslas. I really enjoy shooting over flushing dogs as well. Keeps you moving, that's for sure! Anyway, I wanted another pointer, and I have the opportunity to get a drahthaar from Der Vaterland. So here we go!

My two big 70 pound GSP renegades. These two are my buddies around home, but absolutely driven hunting partners in the field. They sure do keep me out in the fields bird hunting, even at 75 years young.

Rebel, the 2 1/2 year old who is developing into a fine bird dog.

Bode, the 7 year old road warrior. He's hunted birds from the southern to northern borders and Alabama to Oregon.

Bode retrieving three bobwhite at one time on an Alabama hunt. It's never boring hunting with that dog. Yup, that is a 16 ga SXS.
