What df said...
Cheyenne-
Not a cult?? the hell you say.."cult: a system of veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object" And this feeling we have towards the gauge is almost a religion

Yes, I still have the High Standard .410, don't do much with it, but I don't sell guns, did that before when I was broke, always regretted it!

Own a 12ga as a loaner gun but never shoot it, 10ga for Waterfowl & 16ga for pretty much everything else, aside; load 20ga for the Wife.

I have my grandfathers 12 ga. single barrel Palmentto (hardware store gun), but I'd be hard pressed to find any shells in the house to fit it.
Have 8 16 gauge side by sides with only one being a hammerless gun.
How's that for being eccentric. Shocked

I have 16's and 12's. Love shotguns too much to just have 16's. Looking to add 10 gauge and .410 gauge but the right ones haven't come along.

For whatever reason (I'm not too introspective) 20's and 28's leave me cold.

I like SxS and pumps. I have one O/U and sold my only semi-auto. Those views aren't likely to change. Took me 58 year to get them. LOL

I own 2 12ga guns -- a new Browning A5 waterfowl, A Browning B725 Sporting (Euro version of the 725). In 20ga I have 2 SKB model 100's and an older Weatherby Orion.
I own 11 Sixteen gauge guns including several Merkel O/U's to my latest the new A5 Sweet Sixteen. My Favorites are the Merkel's and the Sweet A5. [b]I'm a sixteen ga addict ---- Heeeelp me !!!! Very Happy

Not a 16 gauge only guy, but.....

My 20 has faithfully knocked down blue grouse for years.
My 12 is veteran of countless rooster hunts.
Love 'em both - but I treat them as tools.

I don't find myself reaching into the safe and removing either one of them to fondle and dote over - as I do my pair of 16's.

I suppose I would qualify as a 16 bore purist....almost. Except for a 1913 Ithaca Flues mine are all in drillings or combination guns with the lone exception of a 20 bore flintlock fowler. Hopefully that will be remedied in the near future as a fine, 16 bore muzzleloading double has been found and negotiations are in progress. Being much more a rifleman than a shotgunner my smooth bore needs are small.

One of my two sixteens regularly get the call if the precipitation outlook is low and or hunting conditions won't adversely effect the guns.

Waterfowl with no precipitation - zoli 16ga, M12 16ga.
Precipitation - Gold hunter or 11-87

Upland with no precipitation - Zoli 16ga. / BL-4 20ga./ M12. The twenties will get rotated in every now and then. Wet weather will bring out the lightning twenty.

At the range, the lightning gets 90% of the work.

I have 2 - 12 gauge shotguns, a Beretta Onyx, which hasn't been fired in 3 years and my Benelli SS which I use for all registered SC events.

The rest of the time it is 16 Gauge all the way. I even have, of all things a 16 ga. SxS with double triggers.......and I kinda actually like it.

I'm going to try to carry my 16's exclusively for all of next fall's upland seasons, though I will keep my other guns around. I plan to use my FAIR Rizzini SXS for ruffles, blue grouse, sage grouse, sharptail, and pheasant; my new A5 for huns and quail, and a BPS Upland 24" pump for chukars and foul weather.

I shoot all gauges. I think I am even more addicted to 16's that grouser47! Of my 20 16 ga. guns, 8 are Marlin Model 90's.

Of my 29 shotguns (all shooters) 14 are Model 90's, so you might say I am also addicted to Model 90's.

I have accumulated at least one 16 ga. O/U, SxS, SxS hammer gun, single shot, bolt action, pump, semi-auto and drilling. I am afraid I don't have room for any more, and I really should start downsizing!!
