Hey Guys,
CSMC has a very nice WIN 21 16 GA for sale.......
The Good News is that it has been completely refurbished in their shop and looks splendid.
And the Bad News is that it weighs 7 1/2 lbs and is priced at 8K. |

I've been looking hard at the Winchester 21 16 ga's for years, as most fit my preferences for single triggers, POW or open pistol grip stocks and semi-beavertail fore ends. However, over the years (75 of them now), I've really come to prefer my 16 ga SXS's right around 6 1/2 pounds. Very seldom do you see a Win 21 for sale that makes that weight, and those that do are generally straight stocks. As lovely and well built as they are, I guess one won't ever make it into my gun safes. |

The Model 21 16ga guns that I have seen and had the opportunity to weigh all came in at just a couple ounces over the 6.5# mark, depending on whether they had 26 or 28" barrels. I don't recall seeing a M 21 that went over 7# that wasn't a 12 ga. |

...Just happened to be in the safe getting my favorite 16ga Model 12 out tomorrow's duck excursion, so I weighed three sixteen ga Model 21's and a twelve TRAP in ounces and divided by 16 so pretty close
6.8, 7.0, 6.9 for the 28" sixteens. All 28" pistol grip Beavertails.
The Trap gun came in at nearly EIGHT pounds, 127 oz!
It is a pretty cool old shotgun. 1946, bought off the shelf according to orig owner and sent to Winchester from WA State in '47 to have chambers lengthened to 3" and one barrel reamed to MOD. He told me that his work took him all over the world and he usually took that gun along. |

Thirty some years ago I had a pre-War 20-gauge, 26-inch, Model 21 that was a fraction of an ounce over seven pounds. Considered it too heavy and when I got a five pound 14 ounce Sterlingworth, the Model 21 flowed down the river of commerce for three times what the Sterlingworth cost. Now my favorite 20-gauge is my 28-inch Browning Superposed New Model Skeet that weighs exactly seven pounds!! |
