Being new to the 16 gauge, the new A5 sweet 16 being the only one I own, I am actually looking for an O/U to purchase. I am a browning fan having a Hunters Gold, BPS, 12 gauge A5, and 20 gauge citori feather lightning. I mostly pheasant hunt and took this gun pheasant hunting with my father. He loved it a lot and am considering letting him have it as a gift for helping me while I went through the police academy and sense being left handed I like O/U better for me. My thoughts being on what over under would be best bang for my buck and where would best place to look, assuming gunbroker.com?

Thank you

What do you want to do with it and how much do you want to spend? Great guns out there from $1,500 to $70,000.
Regards,
Jeff

I watched for a $2000 O/U for quite some time. A local shop had a Citori superlight feather on the shelf at $2400 for a few months. They dropped the price $200, I bit. Being also a southpaw, I will spring for a stock bend from a reliable guy I have used before with good and lasting results. The Feather has a minimal cast, so the bend should go very well.
If you find a $2000 16 O/U that tickles your fancy you better buy it. There were two of these on the shelf when I bought mine. After viewing both sitting there for some months, the 2'nd went within a week after I bought mine.
Good luck...... a very worthy mission Very Happy

Oh yeah, and I forgot......
I spoke with RizziniUSA guys right before I picked up my Citori. They are taking orders for a BR110 - a 16 gauge O/U in the $2000 range. I f I recall, they said this model will be shipping in a few months.
Give 'em a call???

Kevin,
Sounds like a Citori will fit the bill perfectly. They're nice guns.

I presume you are looking only for a 16 ga, in that case, as others have said, Citori. If the other gauges, I like the beretta better.

I would ask them what it weighs. Don't know if those are heavier than a Lightning.

It has 28 inch barrels. Most folks look for these 525 models w/ 30 or 32 inch barrels.

Why not go w/ a standard Lightning model w/ 28 inch barrels. They're easier to find and less expensive as well. They also balance and swing very nicely w/o all the fancy schmancy trim.

Better for a hunting gun IMO, 'cause I'd not be sweating the handling marks hunting guns always collect even when the hunting is easy. Just my opinion. I love mine. Had it for quite a while now. I doubt I could find a better one.

If you can find one, the old I. Rizzini (FAIR) OU's imported by New England Arms were pretty decent guns. Scaled properly for a 16, so they were not overly heavy.

My Citori 525 28" comes in at 7lbs 5/8oz. It is very well balanced, for me at least.

For the money on that Browning I would go looking for a F.A.I.R. Rizzini. A friend of mine uses one as his main gun and it is very nice, handle very well, and weighs about what it should. The Browning always felt a bit slow and heavy to me, at least for a gun that a man would carry on long hunts. For sitting on a bucket and shooting doves, the heavier Browning does have a nice smooth swing to it. The fit and workmanship on the Rizzini is better than the Browning though.
