I noticed you were shooting papers in it. Classy! Those rounds are beautiful!

I need to go hammer some barn pigeons.

Pretty much...

We finally got some some sunny 30+ degree days and it feels like the tropics up here.

Okay, crummy pocket camera photos but here are a few from Thursday's chukar hunt. One canyon view is from the west side. The first covey of chukars flew to the far side where one of the snow veins comes down from the top (first photo). Over twenty minutes worth of climbing down and then up the other side (including one of the crevices in the far cliff since the band of snow was too deep/ soft to go further down canyon) resulted in Rusty and I teaching three of the little bandits some proper manners. Gotta love the little demons. The next group of birds were much more cooperative. The snow against the wall is deeper than it appears. The crust held until I was able to reach out and touch rock and then I sank to my chest!

I have to give thanks to the folks at North Face for making boots that actually grip snow! I never would have attempted the route with other boots I have owned. The mountaineering companies seem to grasp the concept that slipping and falling may actually result in death.

Nice.
Been in SW MT for 32 years and still have never hunted redlegs. Gotta remedy that someday.
So much to do, so many places to go.....
Tough problems.

The birds are merciless little buggers that place a high physical demand on your body. I would make that "someday" happen before your body says "No way, I'm not doing that!"

I am pretty certain that a certain well known tailwater river in your area does hold chukars. Sure looks like it would and rumor from locals has it that they are there.
