Was able to make one more bird hunt before the end of the season last week, on the 28th. I hunted with my old 16GA M12 equipped with a Polychoke, my partners used 20GA shotguns. OH

Here's the latest addition

Had her about 3 weeks now and she seems pretty smart. I think she is mirroring my old mutt retriever, which appears to have helped speed up things like house training.

Seems to want to retrieve, isn't scared of power tools. Going to get the cap gun out when it stops blizzarding here and see how she does.

Savage, it was actually kind of strange. The breeder had a couple of litters at the same time, with probably 3/4 of all the pups being yellow. All of the yellows were sold immediately (fortunately I had first pick and of course picked out a black one), but the remaining black pups were harder to move I was told.

No idea why - all the pups looked good and healthy to me. Is there a preference in the non-hunter world for yellows?

Greta goes to work:

Starting to get a bit birdy... That's her sister Fee in the last image, holding on flush.

We had a pitiful waterfowl season, a couple woodies and mostly mergansers. Managed (2) woodcock after the ducks, and the local preserve is what made some semblance of a hunting season...:

After the hunt-

A nice point-

Dog tired (on the drive home)-

Our first woodcock-

Probably this season's final preserve hunt... took me over 5-minutes with a GPS to work through the cane to the edge of the pasture to find her point-
