I use 3/4oz. #9 on every station except the double rabbit at our course. I'm cheap and like that bag of shot to last a long time |

To the OP. Your 9 shot will be devastating out to 30 yards and on many sporting courses will work fine all the way around. Put an IC or LM choke in and go.

I agree out of experience. I choose a fast stepping 7/8 ounce 12 ga load of #9 shot out of a skeet or cylinder choke every time for close in targets. Smoke balls 'em and doesn't juggle my jowls w/ recoil.
The rest of the targets get the same load w/ #8 shot for the rest of them. Different chokes are selected as needed, but a mod tube seems to do the job on the majority very well if I put the pattern close to or dead on the money. |

I am older so I shoot reclaimed shot and skeet/IC for most all SC targets.
I do not change chokes as scores at SC do not interest me.
I do not change choke when I am hunting(well rarely

I AGREE WITH YOU MIKE I DON;T CHANGE CHOKES EITHER AS MINE DON'T CHANGE. HOWEVER, MY SON ONCE REFERED TO SC AS GOLF WITH SHOTGUNS AND I THOUGH IT A GREAT IDEA. ENTER THE RUGGED GEAR 4 GUN CART. I SHOOT FIXED CHOKE SXS ONLY SO YOU OBVIOUSLY NEED A SELECTION IF YOUR GOING TO BE PREPAIRED. CURRENTLY I HAVE A FOX FACTORY BORED CYL AND CYL, AN LC BORED MOD AND CYL, A PARKER BORED CYL AND LMOD, AND A LEVEFER BORED MOD AND HS FULL. ALL 28 " EXCEPT THE LEFEVER WHICH IS 26". COVERS MOST OF MY NEEDS BUT I'M OPEN TO SUGGGESTIONSS AND A NEW PURCHASE IF NEED BE. |
