It is with tears and a heavy heart that I have to report that I had to put my 9 year old St usuge Spaniel, Yasha to sleep yesterday. Her kidneys failed.

She was best pheasant dog I ever saw. Pretty good on grouse and huns too.

She was a great hunter, tracker/retriever and the sweetest little dog.

Miss her so much already. Heart wrenching day.

Hootch
It is with sadness that I read this

Hootch, so sorry to learn of your loss. Having to put a dog down is the toughest thing a hunter will ever have to do.

It is bad enough if it is a house pet only, but a hunting buddy is the worst.

When you have got over this loss, and your health permits, get another puppy, nothing heals the heart like a new pal.

Hang in there.

Dale

It hurts when they have to go down. We invest s much time & emotion into our k9 companions.

Maybe the most difficult thing those of us who get chosen by our dogs must endure. As Will Rogers so eloquently stated, "If there are no dogs in heaven, I want to go where they went". That's my plan.
Hearing of this stuff chokes me up. Bet she had a great life.....

Sorry to hear. You did the right thing. But, that doesn't make it easy.

Your good memories will last forever. That IS something.

It is always a sad day when you have to make that decision even when you know it is the right and humane choice. I am so sorry for your loss.

That's a tough one Hootch. She left you too early. Wishing you better days ahead.

Sorry to hear that, my last dog went about the same way nearing 16 minus having to put her down. She expired during the night after things went down hill fairly suddenly. You always keep missing them, but the memories sure are good.

I know the pain. I put my Britt Dolly down a year ago thanksgiving. One of the hardest things I've done. Sorry for your loss but you did the right thing.
