Our trap club is in free fall after taking a shot broadside this week . Our top jr shooter (one of the best in the country ) passed away Weds . He had been fighting his demons and lost . Only 20ish , he already had a string of AA's . Believe the southern grand doubles was Christopher's(Vendel) last big win . Year before last , he won NYS jr champ and his father Chris won overall , so they shot off for the title . Pop won , but jr was right on him . They just lost gramp last Oct , so this is becoming a difficult yr to say the least . Anyone who minimizes hard drugs and those that make their living selling them has their heads WAY up their a**es ! I'm not going to try to dwell on his problems , just say that he was a GREAT kid , friendly to all , helpful at the club and becoming a world class shooter . He just had a SMALL circle . This is going to be a hard week ! RIP JR . |

I am truly sad to hear this news
The Monkey on the Back is surely a fearsome foe.

16gaDavis, that is very sad news indeed. Addiction is a terrible problem. My condolences.

Anyone who believes that drug use is a victimless crime has never lived through this... |

I have a friend spending his life in a wheelchair from a series of bad choices that caught up to him one night three years ago. He too, is young and a pretty nice kid. It's a shame that his ways did not change soon enough. |

Guys , thanx for the support ... I'm old enough to understand the drug thing , lost a son in law 5yrs ago to that . I know once you are hooked , well , most don't recover from the hard stuff , but each life lives it's own . The REAL difficult part of this is that his father , Chris SR is sched to go in the Trap Hall of Fame this summer at the Grand . He lost his dad last Oct , and now his to be HOF kid now . I know a bunch of us are gonna try to be there , but I'm sure it will be quite hollow . |

God but I hate hearing news like this. But some of the folks in our state congress are finally waking up to how bad things have gotten. Last I heard, a proposed law w/ some fairly heavy restrictions on how pain killers and other opiate based meds can be prescribed has been winding it's way through our state legislature.
It's not just the drug dealers either. Too many doctors are prescribing the pills that folks are getting hooked on. That is where the problem all too often starts. The scum bag drug dealers are then able to capitalize on a very bad situation.
It's damn well about time something is done IMO. Here in MA, we are reportedly losing at least a half dozen folks a day to this drug infested killing field. |

coincidentally , this month's Trapshooting mag has a big spred on dad and his to be induction into the WTHOF . The 3rd page lists all his accomplishments , and JR was on about the same trajectory . This aft is going to suck !! |
