Sorry to report that one of our members, Jeff Sorvik, known as jsorvik here, has died in a house fire at his own residence this past Saturday. Jeff was totally into the 16 gauge and everything it represents. He relished his time in the great Minnesota northwoods chasing grouse and woodcock with his very talented yellow lab, Stieg. I was lucky enough to have been invited by him to join them doing just that. He had let me know recently that he was looking forward to once again being part of the Hawaiian shirt squad at the upcoming Sweet 16 shoot. Those of us that got to spend time with him in person will greatly miss him.http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/news/st-louis-county/4212352-victim-normanna-township-house-fire-identified

So sorry to here of Jeff's passing, I only knew him the one day at the shoot. but he seem like a really nice guy as all of you were. I wish I was better at expressing my condolences at this sort of thing, such a tragic loss.

I was privileged to shoot with Jeff and the Hawaiian shirt squad last year at the shoot. The best way to describe Jeff was as a sincere gentleman. Terrible loss. Prayers are certainly on the way for his friends and family. |

The news of losing one of our members is always sad, but this news is tragic. I think the best we can hope for is that carbon monoxide took Jeff in his sleep before the flames reached him. So let's pray that the family was told he did not suffer. I also pray that nobody else was taken w/ him. |

That is terrible news, I live by myself, have no family within 1,000 miles. Does anyone know if he had a family, usually if there are more than one family member in a fire, all are lost.
May God accept his soul.

My deepest sorrow and sympathy to his family and all who knew him. Does anyone have photos from time they spent with Mr. Sorvik? It would be nice to do a little memorial here if possible. |
