The cab of my truck started smelling a little funkier as the week went on last week.I'd been too lazy to completely remove everything from my trip the week before, and when some guys showed up and invited me to go on a rabbit hunt with them Saturday morning, I grabbed my vest out of the truck, and soon discovered a well seasoned but previously overlooked blue quail in the game pouch. My first offense. Thankfully, I've one last trip next week before the hunting garb gets returned to another anguished purgatory period awaiting September resurrection.

Put up hunting clothes you say? How bout throw away hunting clothes. Two seasons has totally done in a perfectly good pair of Carhart overalls, my favorite brush rig. The blackberrry, dewberry, greenbrier, etc. infested fencerows eat the best of brush pants alive when we quail hunt down here.
Fortunately my Dannon Sharptails are badly scratched, but they should make another hunting season.
Cowdoc87- substitute you for a friend of mine and substitute quail for rabbit and add 2 months!Last hunt of year , vest in storage area of his dog box. Talk about fever in the funk house. Years later you can still catch a little whiff of the stench.

I had a "boot and shoot" quail roll out of my vest a couple of years ago. Wondered what the "dead rat" smell was in the back of the Sequoia and investigated. I rode around for a couple of months with the endless loop running of "Revenge of the Killed Quail" in the back of the truck.
I have help now when I put away hunting clothes. There are at least 3 dogs that make sure there is no game left in bag.
I have though on occasion left some unused spending money in pockets for a year or so!
Clothing? Heck I am guilty as charged with my vehicles. Empty shells and stray feathers seem to leak out for months. Back when I had a 1964 Ranchero I could put so much stuff behind the seat that it took two hours to clean after season ended. Good times. Looking forward to that again: 1960 is under construction!
