Dave -- Play the wind -- Don't just break, but crush the target in the right place considering the wind(all you gotta do . . . har, har!). Can't have big flying high inertia pieces that might carry the ribbon away unless the target is low enough to the ground. Also, if wind is high, and the target is high, an overly powdered target might allow the ribbon to blow out of the ring. So there is no perfect answer; gotta see what the wind and targets are doing. However, Skeet or IC is probably enough choke at any range up to 35 yards or so, and my experience is that the targets are usually 25 yards and under -- that's the way they are at the Duluth Double Gun. I've been using an AyA #2 12 gauge with 7/8 ounce of 8's or 9's up there, choked IC and Mod and that's too much choke. We'll have to see how S.St.Paul R&G set them up, but I doubt it will warrant full choke.

Cheers!

I was wondering about this too and you really made it pretty clear, Tony, thanks! I'm really looking forward to the shoot. Taking the weekend off from turkey hunting for it so I am all in!

Tony, that wind is a killer. Not sure what is worse, smacking a target hard and watching the ribbon drift just outside the ring, or getting that bunny shot coming right at you and choking. Win or lose, it's always a blast!

I plan to be there this year. I planned to to make it last year but a last minute work related crisis prevented my trip to the 2016 Shout.

For show and tell, I plan to bring my two gun Browning 725 16ga 12GA set. The barrels interchange. One is straight stock field grade the other is grade IV. I will al so bring my two first year 1909 A5 16ga. One is an Art's 100% restoration the other is all original with 108 years of wear. It does have a very old period horn grip add on. My two barrel Pre-war Browning Superposed 16/12ga. is with Angelo Bee getting an upgraded face lift. I am meeting with him Monday to document my 1936 Winchester 21 16ga. that he upgraded with gold ducks in the 70s. I may bring a couple more goodies but won't be bringing most of my collection like I did in 2015.

Barring another crisis, I will see you next Saturday.

Happy Mothers Day!

Make sure that you bring at least 8 guns and then I won't feel like the most deranged person....
I'll have
M12 30" plain and 28" solid rib
M21 30" DT and 28" SST
Beretta 411E, 409
And a 30" German hammer gun

What other guns are gonna be exercised and enjoyed this Saturday in St Paul??

Well look at the bright side Dave. If it is raining hard enough you can see your shot string in the rain. Very Happy

Did that with Glenn Jensen when he first setup the SC course South of La Crosse. We kept hoping the rain would quit but it never did it only got worse. Quite the adventure cleaning and drying the guns out after but shooting it was one of the best times I have had.

Look forward to seeing you and Jason at the Sweet 16! Still have a bunch of tickets to burn at the skeet range at Winona...

I also have leftover skeet tickets and I'm ready to use them any time!

I believe I brought the good weather to Michigan Very Happy I'll see what I can do. This does increase the opportunity for buying and bartering goodies.

We had brief rain in 2015 too but it blew over. Thunder showers come and go.

Extended show and sell time, Maybe I will bring more guns.

These three. If it's raining the SW16 will be busy.

Greg,
I'm finally coming to this event, with a pile of guns to shoot, show and maybe sell.
- composed pair Model 21's, 16 and 20 gauge, 2 bbl. each gauge
- 16 Grulla Royal
- 16 Parker VHE
- 16 I Rizzini
- 16 pre-war Suuer
- two 16 Browning Citoris, one NIB, one as new in box
- SKB 280 20 ga. NIB
The last 4 are probably for sale. Even if it rains all day we gotta shoot. We can dry off, clean our guns and swap stories after.
