"When we see the land as a Community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with Love and Respect"
Aldo Leopold
Hunting and use the land with respect is a Tradition that should be handed down through the Generations |

I'm a huntsman and a fisherman, thus a Sportsman in the old sense, out pursing game and fish - i.e., participating in those outdoor sports. In a narrower sense games played for scores are sports - they are a piece of the sporting life, but not all of it. I'm content with considering both bird hunting and deer hunting sports (just as football and baseball are sports). Besides Aldo Leopold there is much to be learned of the sporting life by reading Ruark, Babcock, and Rutledge, among others. OH |
