Never been much of a shotgun guy, but I finally broke down and got me a second shotgun. Old Stevens 77B with a Savage adjustable choke. I know they make the short shells for Papaw's old LC Smith I posted about several years ago, but the more I thought about the less enamored I got with carrying a $1000+ shotgun through the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau and the Great Smokies. So, I found this 77B for $125. Beautiful bore, but is missing the shell retainer and one screw. The gunsmith I bought 'er from is looking through his stash to try and find the parts, but if no joy they'll turn up on Ebay for reasonable eventually I suppose. Or maybe the Trader here? Finding parts is at least to me half the fun of old guns. |

Don't see the missing part on their diagram. There's a screw that comes in from the left side missing, and whatever it holds together inside the gun makes the carrier and the piece that holds the shells in the tube rattle around with the pump handle forward. The carrier flips up and stays up when you shuck the pump, though. |

Got it yesterday. Is a 77-SC, factory recoil pad and Savage Super Choke. Needs a couple springs, and the ejector assembly is missing. Not bad for $100otd. Will post pix tonight or tomorrow. |
